Counselling is a conversation with a purpose. The purpose is for you to discover, explore and strengthen your capacity to overcome the challenges you are currently facing in your life. This process doesn’t have to be complicated. I strive to make the process as simple, clear and transparent as it should be. In my practice I use motivational interviewing (MI) as the main style of communication. If you want to know more about MI, I recommend this website: https://motivationalinterviewing.org/understanding-motivational-interviewing

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a developmental process that will assist you in gaining a deep understanding of your core attitudes, beliefs and recurrent emotions, patterns of thinking, behaviour, and personality. In psychotherapy we explore how early life experiences have contributed to specific challenges, wellbeing, and patterns of interpersonal relationships.

My academic training, professional experience and deep understanding of the therapeutic process allow me to offer a uniquely personalised style of treatment that I describe as psychotherapeutic counselling. This treatment model will help you develop skills and resources to manage mental health, addiction, stress and other concerns, while simultaneously exploring the implicit learning that caused the symptoms that brought you into treatment. The intention of this treatment model is to alleviate symptoms while working towards full and effortless recovery.

Clinical supervision is a working alliance in which a supervisor provides reflection, feedback and guidance to a therapist. Clients will benefit from a counsellor’s increased competence, confidence. Clinical supervision is an ethical, professional and legal responsibility and is essential for continued registration with ACA and PACFA.
